After you create your blog, you can then choose a design.  PDX Chat has more than 60 different design options pre-installed and ready for you to use.  Many of the designs (called themes) have different options.  Some will allow you to change the header images while others will allow you to change colors, layout tabs, reference special categories and a host of other wizbang things to keep your visitor’s interest.

What is a Theme?

Fundamentally, the WordPress Theme system is a way to “skin” your weblog. Yet, it is more than just a “skin.” Skinning your site implies that only the design is changed. WordPress Themes can provide much more control over the look and presentation of the material on your website.

Setting Your Theme

To change your theme, navigate to your new blog/website and click on “Site Admin”.

Along the left side of your browser window are the management options for your website.  Locate the tab titled “Appearance” and click on the arrow next to “Appearance”.  When the menu expands, click on “Themes” to be taken to the manage themes screen.

Scroll through the available themes, using Preview and Active to alter the current theme for your website.
